We're done with broken chargers.
Every electric vehicle driver in South Africa knows the feeling. You pull up to a fast charger, plug in, and nothing. Out of order. Under maintenance. Already taken. Five cars deep in the queue.
EVPlug exists to fix that.
Our stations are designed for reliability from the ground up: quality chargers, installation by registered electrical engineers, real-time monitoring, and an actual person who answers the phone when something needs attention.

New to driving electric in South Africa? Start here.
How much does it cost to charge an EV in South Africa?
Public chargers are priced per kWh, and each network sets its own rate. At EVPlug stations the price per kWh is on screen before you start, with no subscription or monthly fee.
How long does it take to charge?
It depends on the charger and your car. DC fast chargers suit a stop on a road trip. AC chargers suit topping up over a few hours while you shop, work or sleep.
Which plug does my car use?
Most EVs sold in South Africa use CCS2 for DC fast charging and Type 2 for AC. Some older models, such as the first Nissan Leaf, use CHAdeMO. Every station page lists its connectors.
Do I need an account to charge?
At EVPlug stations you can start from the app, tap an EVPlug RFID card, or scan the QR code on the charger and pay by card without an account.
Where does the station list come from?
EVPlug stations report their own live status. Other networks' stations come from Open Charge Map, so check with the operator before a long trip.

Where should EVPlug build next?
If there's a mall, hotel, office park, highway stop or suburb where EV charging is missing or unreliable, tell us. We use these signals to prioritise where to put our next station: the locations people vote for most.
